Actress Jamie Lee Curtis is joining the cast of the upcoming Borderlands film, Lionsgate announced on Monday.
Curtis will play Tannis, a scientist / archaeologist who possibly holds the (literal) key to the legendary vault, but his past with Siren Lilith can complicate things along the way. Tannis appeared in all the main Borderlands games, but has recently returned as a side character in Borderlands 3 who assists the protagonists.
“Working with the iconic Jamie Lee Curtis has always been a dream of mine, and I am very excited for her to bring her humor, warmth and shine to the role of Tannis,” said director Eli Roth.
Curtis will join actors Kevin Hart (in the role of mercenary Roland) and Cate Blanchett (in the role of Siren Lilith) in the film.
Curtis, who rose to fame as the original “scream queen” Laurie Strode in the Halloween series, is also known for her roles in cult classics such as Knives Out, Arnold Schwarzenegger’s True Lies, Trading Spaces, Freaky Friday and others.
The film Borderlands is being written by Craig Mazin, formerly HBO’s Chernobyl writer and currently developing a series based on The Last of US for HBO as well.
Developer Gearbox and Lionsgate announced the film Borderlands in February 2020. Since then, fans have been presented with news from the cast, including the potential for fans and cosplayers to join the cast and be summarily killed.
With the production still in the casting phase, don’t expect to hear many news about when we can see the film in theaters. Remember that?
