Billy Brown, patriarch of the “Alaskan Bush People”, died at the age of 68.
Program representatives confirmed their move to Fox News on Monday.
“We are devastated to learn of Billy Brown’s sudden death. He has been part of the Discovery family for years – a pioneer, a lovely man and definitely unique,” the statement said. “Our heart is with your family and those who knew and loved you as they deal with this devastating loss.”
Brown appeared in the show’s first eight seasons as the father of a self-sufficient family living off the land alongside his wife, Ami, on IMDb.

According to People Magazine, Billy’s son Bear also spoke about the death on his private Instagram, confirming that he died on Sunday after suffering a seizure.

“We are heartbroken to announce that our beloved patriarch Billy Brown passed away last night after suffering a seizure,” the caption said, according to the newspaper. “He was our best friend – a wonderful, loving father, grandfather and husband, and he will be sorely missed.”
Bear, 33, added: “He lived his life on his own terms, off the grid and off the ground and taught us to live like that too. We intend to honor his legacy going forward and continue with his dream. We ask for privacy and prayers during this painful period. God bless you all! “

In 2017, the Brown family moved to Washington after Ami, 57, was diagnosed with lung cancer so she could receive treatment.
According to the outlet, they moved to a 435-acre property in the North Cascade Mountains. In 2018, she was told she had no cancer.

The diagnosis came after a handful of strange symptoms, as Ami told People at the time.

“I felt some back pain,” she said. “Walking from home to the garden, I was out of breath. There were days when I was just in bed, but I thought it was my arthritis. We were filming the program and sometimes all I could do was stay there – I was in a lot of pain . “

She continued: “When we were shooting promotional photos, I said to them, ‘There is something wrong.’ In December [2016] I went to the dentist to make impressions of new teeth and when they did a scan they noticed a small capsule. That’s how it started. “
The 12th season of “Alaskan Bush People” aired its final episode last October on Discovery.
