The game is currently at the top of Steam’s bestseller list (measured by total revenue rather than number of sales), where it has risen over the past week, beating games like Nioh 2 and Football Manager 2021. With an incredibly positive rating on Steam, it is clearly doing well with those who bought it too, and the player statistics only confirm its popularity.Recording more than 130,000 simultaneous players at its peak, Valheim is also rising rapidly in Steam’s player count ranking. At the time of writing, the game was sitting comfortably in the Top 10 Steam games, just below Rust and Rainbow Six: Siege, and currently has more players than some Steam fighters like Rocket League, Path of Exile, Civilization VI and Warframe.
On Twitch, the game is also having a lot of mainstream success with streamers, appearing in the main categories. Esports Charts lists the game with an average of 31,000 viewers since the launch, with a peak of 81,392 – you can expect it to continue growing at the present time.
In other Steam news, here’s what Gabe Newell of Valve thinks brain-computer interfaces will do for games. Steam was recently hit with an EU fine for alleged “geographic blocking”.
