Coronavirus cases in Ghana have increased Coronavirus cases in Ghana have increased

Dr. Samuel Kojo Amoakohene, an anesthesiologist from Portland, entered the debate that hydrogen peroxide can be used to prevent or treat coronavirus, saying it is not factual.

Instead, he suggested that people use halodine, a drug also known as povidone-iodine, because it is a more effective drug against the prevention and treatment of the virus.

Speaking at JoyNews’ Newsfile on Saturday, February 6, 2021, Dr. Amoakohene said that, according to one study, halodin use proved to be safer.

He added that an experiment carried out by his team to test the product’s effectiveness proved to be safe and efficient, with no side effects, unlike the use of hydrogen peroxide.

“A study came from France to show that patients with coronaviruses who use halodine eliminated the entire virus from their system. For those who used halodine, it was twice as effective as for those who did not, but were asked to go home and isolate themselves in the hope of improving, ”he said.

Regarding the use of hydrogen peroxide, he said that it is harmful to the human immune system, with cancerous tendencies.

“One of the first defenses of our immune system is the respiratory system. Coronavirus predominantly affects our nose, eyes, touches our lungs and burns it.

“Taking a product like hydrogen peroxide, which sometimes causes cancer, and putting it in your nose, will destroy your first defense of the mechanism to fight anything,” he said, reports myjoyonline.com.
