If you have played Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War recently and was killed in some very unusual ways, there may be a good explanation. Apparently, one of the many accessories in the game now is to allow players to essentially see through walls, gaining an important edge in the competition.
Detected by u / AvHsA on Reddit, by equipping the Tiger Team Spotlight Body accessory on a weapon, you can see the names of enemy players appear while aiming. The attachment does not reveal the exact contour of the opposing players, but if you can see their names in the game, well, this is good enough to catch them. Obviously, it is a major problem and it is something that Treyarch should probably try to fix sooner or later.
It is important to note that, at the time of writing, it is not clear how consistent this bug is in its entirety Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War. This trick was discovered on one of the game’s newest maps, the Express, but it is unclear whether it is a problem in all locations. Furthermore, it is not really known if this same bug is present with the Tiger Team Spotlight attachment when equipped with all weapons or if it only causes this problem with selected weapons.
At the time of writing, Treyarch said nothing about the bug and may not even be aware of its existence. It also doesn’t seem to be something that many Black Ops Cold War players noticed until recently. That said, the longer you are in the game, the more players will start to know about it and are likely to take advantage of it. As such, Treyarch really needs to find this out quickly or risk ruining the goal of Black Ops Cold War for the near future.
