It is not yet time to store snow shovels.
Winter storm warnings were issued on Saturday morning that extended from northeastern Georgia to southern New England. But central Pennsylvania is just under a warning of winter weather.
A warning was issued because meteorologists predict that 5 to 10 cm of snow will fall here on Sunday. Nearby cities – Baltimore, Washington, DC, Philadelphia and New York – are included in winter storm warnings, according to AccuWeather.
“This snowstorm on the way this weekend is going to be a shallow blow, but still an impactful storm from the middle of the Atlantic to the Northeast,” said AccuWeather chief meteorologist Bernie Rayno.
It will not be a “highly successful storm that broke snowfall records in parts of the East in early February,” said AccuWeather meteorologists.
Due to the offshore runway, the largest amounts of snow will also be sloping further east compared to the last storm.
“This is a storm that moves quickly,” added Rayno. “It will be a fast hitter and will keep some snow accumulations low.”
AccuWeather meteorologists are forecasting 3-6 inches of snow along the Interstate-95 corridor from Washington, DC, to Philadelphia and New York.
The strongest blizzard is likely to happen southeast of Interstate 81, according to the State College National Weather Service. Sunday highs should be close to 35.
The winter weather warning is in effect from 1 am to 1 pm on Sunday in Cumberland, Dauphin, Franklin, Fulton, Lebanon, Perry and Schuylkill counties.
