PS5, Xbox Series X sold out at Walmart after a series of refueling

Update: PS5 and Xbox Series X | S are now out of stock at Walmart after five separate refills that started at 12pm PT / 3pm ET and occurred in 10-minute increments. As usual, the stock ran out ridiculously fast – we rarely saw the “add to cart” button appear. The PS5 and PS5 Digital sold out faster, while the S Series was the easiest to find in stock, being available for several minutes at a time. To learn more about where to buy next generation consoles in the future, see our Xbox and PS5 refueling guides, where we are monitoring availability.

Those who still want to buy a PS5 or Xbox Series X will have another chance soon via Walmart. The major retailer is planning to restock the next generation pair of consoles today, February 4, at 12pm PT / 3pm ET, according to a Walmart spokesman who informed GameSpot by email. The PS5 and Xbox Series X will only be available for delivery, and you can place orders on Walmart.com or the Walmart app while supplies last.

The refueling of Walmart will include the PS5, PS5 Digital, Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S, and the next refueling time is also reflected in the lists on the Walmart website. We have included direct links to all four models below – you will want to be ready on your computer by midday PT / 3 PM ET.

Walmart’s next-generation console refills are known to be particularly frustrating for hopeful buyers. While it is convenient for the store to announce its refueling in advance, it also provides moneychangers with sufficient time to prepare, and all previous console refills at Walmart sold out in less than a minute. Securing a PS5 or Xbox Series X at Walmart is a matter of luck, but you can increase your chances by logging into your Walmart account in advance and having your payment and shipping address updated. This minimizes the chance that it will run out during payment.

Both the PS5 and Xbox Series X remain notoriously difficult to find in stock, despite being almost three months before launch. Although Sony did not specifically speak of the PS5’s refueling situation for 2021, Microsoft recently told The New York Times that it expects the Xbox Series X inventory to be limited until at least June, so we expect the same to be true for the PS5. Still, online retailers continue to offer sporadic refills like what is happening today, although normally no notice is given. It appears that many of the top retailers have received more PS5 and Xbox stock recently, as we saw a series of refills in late January at Best Buy, Target, Walmart, GameStop and even Amazon. We continue to track Xbox and PS5 refueling updates in our availability guides as well.
