Beautiful things, which is due to be published on April 6, appeared at number one and number five on the list on Friday night. It was not the only seemingly inadequate memory to appear on the list.

Unfair by Michael Cohen, the former lawyer for former President Donald Trump, came in second and fourth in the “Chinese Biographies” category. Into Thin Air, by American non-Chinese writer Jon Krakauer, appeared on the list three times.

Amazon said Newsweek that Biden’s inclusion was a mistake and that the company was working to correct the list.

While President Joe Biden’s son’s book may have been mistakenly included on the list, attempts to highlight his alleged commercial activities in China have been popular with some conservatives. Unsubstantiated allegations about Hunter Biden’s corrupt practices were strongly promoted by Trump and many of his supporters before the 2020 presidential election. An investigation into young Biden’s “tax affairs” was launched by the Department of Justice in December.

Biden’s memories were purchased by Simon & Schuster in the fall of 2019, but kept secret until Thursday, according to The Associated Press. A description by the publisher says the book “details Hunter’s fall in substance abuse and his tortuous path to sobriety”.

You can also play in other dark chapters in your family history. Biden and his late brother Beau, who died of brain cancer in 2015, survived a car accident in 1972 that killed his 1-year-old mother and sister.

Author Stephen King, one of a small group who read early copies of the book, called it “a distressing and compulsively readable memoir”. King noted that the book answers a question that Trump, while promoting the charges against Biden, regularly voiced during campaign rallies before the election.

“Biden remembers everything and tells everything with a bravery that is both heartbreaking and stunning,” King said in a statement announcing the book. “He starts with a question: Where’s Hunter? The answer is that he’s in this book, the good, the bad and the beautiful.”

President and First Lady Jill Biden also opined on the book, saying “we admire our son Hunter’s strength and courage to speak openly about his addiction so that others can see each other on their journey and find hope” in a statement released On thursday.

In addition to Hunter Biden’s business in China, other allegations of corruption concern Biden’s business activities in Ukraine. The charges led to the first of two unprecedented impeachment of Trump by the House in December 2019, months after the former president allegedly tried to pressure the Ukrainian government to announce a Biden investigation.
