BioWare announced the release date and new details for the long-awaited Mass Effect Legendary Edition this week. While the biggest updates to the series’s remastering are cosmetic, a specific change has sparked fan interest (and anger). The remastering will alter the camera cuts that focus on the characters’ buttocks.
In an interview with Metro UK, Mass Effect Legendary Edition project director Mac Walters said BioWare reconsidered the way it portrayed characters like Miranda in the remaster.
“[Character and environment director] Kevin [Meek] actually called for some camera cuts that were just … why was this focusing on Miranda’s ass? “Walters said.” So in some cases, we said, ‘Okay, we can make a change there.’ “Walters indicated that there were no changes to specific character models, but rather updates to camera angles.
Perhaps the best known example of Mass Effect’s questionable camera angles is a scene from Mass Effect 2 where she is talking to Commander Shepard about rescuing her family and, instead of focusing on any of the faces, the camera focuses mainly on Miranda’s ass.
People on Twitter and Reddit have already noticed the changes and are expressing its support (or disagree) with the decision.

People also took the opportunity to do ass jokes.
While some people online have been concerned about the changes, the adjustments will not change anything big, like adding new downloadable content or a change Mass Effect 3controversial end of. The collection will notably not include the fan-favorite Pinnacle Station DLC.
If you want to see the extent of the changes, be sure to check Mass Effect Legendary Edition when it arrives on May 14th. The game will be released for PlayStation 4, Windows PC and Xbox One, and can be played on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X for backward compatibility.
