First carbon fiber Shelby GT500CR production car unveiled with 810 hp

Of course, a starting price of $ 298,000 for a Mustang is hard to imagine. Then again, this is no ordinary pony car, as it looks like it went back in time until the late 1960s and took current technology with it. Originally announced in May last year, Classic Recreation’s first Shelby GT500CR Mustang 1967 construction is now complete.

It combines the classic look of the ‘Stang with modern manufacturing techniques, as the compact car has an all-carbon fiber body, which makes it about 272 kilograms lighter than the standard Shelby GT500CR from Classic Recreation. The Carbon Edition was developed in collaboration with SpeedKore, starting with a 1967 steel GT500CR that was digitized, designed and engineered in CAD before being permanently enshrined in the plugs.

The end result is an “exact match replication” thanks to the perfectly aligned panels and the spotless body. Autoclave-cured body panels have an exposed carbon fiber web complemented by sweet red stripes, while other colors are available upon request. It sits on 18-inch three-piece Forgeline wheels wrapped in BFGoodrich Rival S measuring 275/35/18 at the front and 335/30/18 at the rear.

Braking force is provided by Wilwood six-piston calipers with 14-inch rotors at the front and four-piston calipers with 13-inch rotors at the rear. The rotors on both axles are grooved, drilled and ventilated, with an adjustable rear proportion valve also installed to control the pressure balance between the front and rear brakes.

At the heart of the Classic Recreations’ 1967 Shelby GT500CR Mustang is a 5.2-liter Ford Coyote (Gen 3) engine with a 2.9-liter Whipple supercharger for a massive production of 810 horsepower and 600 pound-feet (813 Newtons) -meters) of torque. All that American muscle is channeled to the road through Ford’s 10-speed automatic transmission (with paddle shifters).

Images of the interior were not provided, but we know that there is a headliner in Alcantara and leather upholstery. Shelby’s custom red gauges have been installed, including a new speedometer that goes up to 320 km / h to reflect the Mustang’s newly acquired capabilities. The Kicker audio system and Kenwood infotainment complete the changes.

You don’t have to pay nearly $ 300,000, as Classic Recreations is offering a basic carbon fiber GT500CR for $ 265,000 before options. This limited edition of Carbon featured here costs more due to the extra custom bits that make it even more attractive.
