2022 four star DB Taylor Groves commits to Michigan

Well, it wasn’t long before cornerback co-coordinator / trainer Maurice Linguist got his first recruit in Michigan, when 2022 four-star safety Taylor Groves, who received his Michigan offer on January 27, announced his appointment Friday -market.

Groves attends East Robertson High School in Tennessee and has the same personal trainer as Junior Colson, a 2021 signatory, who undoubtedly also helped Michigan in this race.

Other schools that Groves was considering include LSU, Mississippi State, Ole Miss, Tennessee and Virginia Tech.

Our own Von Lozon interviewed Groves after receiving the offer and said that his conversation with Linguist stood out among the rest.

“It was great, one of the best conversations I’ve ever had with a coach,” Groves told Maize n Brew. “He was truthful about everything he said, and I’m definitely a huge Michigan fan right after that conversation.

“I think the coaching staff (from Michigan) can take me where I want to be in my future (the NFL),” he said. “I also want to win a national championship and I feel like I can do that there.”

Ranked No. 242 in the country and 16th in safety, schools were divided on which side of the ball they were recruiting the 1.8m tall, 175 pound candidate. Groves recently told 247Sports that schools like LSU, Clemson, Alabama and Ohio State were also recruiting him as a defense, so this appears to be his position with the highest ceiling.

Groves is the fifth member of Michigan’s 2022 class and the first in defense. You can check the highlights of the first year below.
