Activision Blizzard confirmed the sequel to the team-based shooter Overwatch it will not arrive this year.
This announcement was made by the company’s chief financial officer and president of emerging businesses, Dennis M. Durkin, during the fourth quarter earnings conference call.
“Our perspective does not include Diablo IV or Overwatch 2 launch in 2021. “
Overwatch 2 is focused on implementing more PvE and story content. Blizzard previously said that original Overwatch players would have full access to the sequel’s PvP content.
“Current Overwatch players will fight side by side with Overwatch 2 players in PvP multiplayer mode; they will also be able to play with Overwatch 2 heroes and maps.“
Overwatch 2 was originally confirmed for the Nintendo Switch alongside several other platforms at BlizzCon 2019.
