Engelbert Humperdinck is making a desperate appeal after he and his wife, actress Patricia Healey, contracted the new coronavirus.
The 84-year-old singer asked for prayers in a heartfelt video that shared his Instagram and Facebook on Wednesday, saying the diagnosis of COVID-19 “made it almost impossible” for Healey to consult medical professionals while she continues to fight Alzheimer’s.
“Consequently, she is suffering a lot and she is neither eating nor drinking,” he shared. “With all your prayers gathered, God will send the right message, and the right angels, and the right people to lay hands on it.”
“Please help with a quick prayer. This is the most important thing,” continued Humperdinck.

In the caption, the crooner for “The Last Waltz” wrote that he and his family are “in need of a miracle for my dear wife”.
“Her Alzheimer’s and the stroke of greed left her in need of all the love she has already given to return to her a million times,” he explained.
According to Humperdinck, the family has been praying at 8 pm PST every night for Healey and “all those who are suffering from the pandemic and other fatal diseases”.
“So, my friends, I don’t feel selfish about this request, as we all must pray for one another,” he wrote, asking fans to join him in prayer.
Humperdinck added that he feels for those who cannot be with his loved ones during the pandemic and that he is “beyond grateful” for the time he spends with his wife.
Humperdinck spoke for the first time about his and Healey’s COVID-19 diagnosis in late January, writing on twitter, “After almost a year of great caution and care, Covid reached out to us and found a way into our home …”
“Now we must not allow a positive result to bring a negative mindset, but I must say that I would like your help in this department. We are asking for prayers, good energy, love and support to be sent in our direction ”, he tweeted.
“My biggest ‘request’ is for my dear wife, Patricia (Popea),” Humperdinck told fans. “She’s been through a lot and do whatever it takes. She is a woman of incredible strength. Please also keep our wonderful caretakers in your prayers. “

In 2017, Humperdinck revealed that Healey had been battling Alzheimer’s “for about 10 years”.
“It has been very difficult for us to discuss this,” he said during an interview on the British talk show. Loose Women. “Hopefully [by] making this public, I can be a voice – so to speak – and be part of awareness. “
