Last week, Roger Craig Smith – the voice of Sonic the Hedgehog for more than ten years – announced his departure from the role.

Obviously, a discussion arose about who could be the next voice actor for Sonic. Many longtime fans have even asked the voice actors for Sonic the Hedgehog to return and well, it seems that one, in particular, has already managed to get his agent to contact Sega.

The guy we’re talking about is Ryan Drummond. If the name doesn’t sound like much, he is best known in the community for giving Sonic a voice in the original Dreamcast outputs Sonic Adventure and Sonic Adventure 2. He was also later credited in games like Sonic Adventure DX: Director’s Version and Sonic Advance 3.

During a recent live broadcast, Drummond confirmed that his agent had contacted Sega. This was revealed in response to a question about his possible return:

“I wish I could [say ‘yes’], but we don’t know anything yet. You know as much as I do … We don’t want to get bogged down with this topic of conversation, but I have no problem … telling everyone … my agent got in touch with SEGA today, so I hope there is a conversation. And we’ll see what happens after that. There are many different factors that people don’t even realize are at stake here. “

While this undoubtedly comes as exciting news for many, whether Sega would re-hire someone for such an iconic role or not is another matter. Would you like to see Drummond reprise his role as Sonic? Let us know below.
