Former President Donald Trump will oversee the removal of the helipad at Florida’s Mar-a-Lago resort, which will cost $ 15,000, according to reports.
The demolition is a symbolic step in Trump’s transition back to civilian life, as he used to use the helipad to land the Marine One, the helicopter used by the President of the United States.
The demolition permit was withdrawn on Tuesday, the Palm Beach Daily News reported.
Municipal manager Kirk Blouin stressed that the removal was planned all the time and has nothing to do with recent events.
WHAT TRUMP IS BEING ACCUSED IN SENATE’S IMPEACHMENT JUDGMENT?
“It seems to have been more controversial in media reports than in actual practice,” said Blouin. “They never asked to keep you.”
The actual process of removing the helipad is unclear, neither when it would start or how long it would last.
Trump’s helipad was an exception to the general zoning rule while he was president, according to TMZ. Palm Beach does not normally allow helicopters or heliports in the city, but it has approved one for Trump’s use “for businesses related solely to the position of president.”
