The Super Bowl halftime show, sponsored by Pepsi, is one of the biggest musical performances of the year.

According to Reuters, the halftime show can cost more than $ 10 million, even if the musical artist is not paid for his 12 to 15 minute show.

In recent years, the intermission show has attracted a live audience of around 100 million viewers, so the cost for dozens of dancers, various stages, fireworks, lighting, costume swapping and even trapezes is justified.

“We cover production costs and expenses,” an NFL spokesman told Forbes earlier.

When Maroon 5 performed in 2019, the band saw a 488 percent increase in sales after the show, according to Nielsen data.

In 2017, Lady Gaga saw its digital catalog sales increase by more than 1,000 percent on game day. She sold about 150,000 other albums and songs.

In 2020, Jennifer Lopez and Shakira performed a medley of songs that generated sales of more than 1,000 percent and more than 16,000 digital downloads, according to Billboard.

This year, on Sunday, February 7, Grammy winner The Weeknd will take the stage at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida.

The 30-year-old “Blinding Lights” singer and his team recently spoke to Billboard magazine and revealed that he spent an incredible $ 7 million to ensure that his presentation on the Halftime Show would go as planned.

“We are really focusing on attracting fans at home and making presentations a cinematic experience, and we want to do that with the Super Bowl,” Weeknd told Billboard.

Weeknd manager Wassim Slaiby pointed out that while event organizers pay the bill, Weeknd has contributed $ 7 million of his own money to “make this halftime show what he imagined”

“We’ve always had the Super Bowl on our wish list and we’ve always had timelines for all of our goals,” said co-manager Amir “Cash” Esmailian. “It happened a few years earlier than we expected.”
