Texas DPS accidentally issues Amber Alert to the horror icon Chucky and son

Move over Leatherface, Texas, apparently has a new serial killer to take care of after an Amber Alert was issued to the Chucky killer doll.

The Texas Department of Public Security made international news last Friday after accidentally issuing an Amber Alert test to Chucky and his son Glen Ray.

A DPS spokesman said the alert was a test defect and issued an apology “for the confusion this may have caused”, adding that they are “working diligently to ensure this does not happen again”.

Chucky, the star of the horror movie franchise “Child’s Play,” was listed as the suspect with a description that fit the fictional five-foot-tall killer, several media reports reported. Weighing just 7 kilograms, the employees allegedly were looking for a man with red or red hair and blue eyes, wearing a blue denim overall with a striped shirt and wielding a kitchen knife. Her race was listed as “Other: Doll”.

The two were last seen on January 28 in Henderson, Texas, according to the Amber alert.

The alert was sent three times to Texas Alerts System subscribers via email, warning them to also be on the lookout for 5-year-old Glen Ray.

Amber Alerts are used to alert the public to serious kidnappings of children in the hope of providing clues to law enforcement. The alert was first created in 1996, after Amber Hagerman, of Arlington, 9, disappeared while riding a bicycle.
