Changing the profile photo associated with your Google Account has never been difficult, but it’s even easier to do now. A change in the latest version of Google Contacts makes the process a two-touch case, accessible quickly and easily from within the application.
Touch your profile photo in Google Contacts, touch it again with the camera icon and you will be taken directly to the Google Account setup for her.
The new feature is simple. In the latest version of the Google Contacts app (v3.38), touch your profile picture to access the account switcher. There, you should see a new camera icon at the top of your profile photo for the current account. Touch it and you’ll be taken directly to the Google Account page to change your profile photo or just remove it entirely.
I suspect that this change will also be launching other Google applications. Sometime since last summer, Google’s documentation for changing the Gmail profile picture has changed to reference this same process, although the feature is not actually present in that application yet.
The change was first detected by our friends at XDA Developers and has been in testing since Google Contacts v3.31 and September last year. But we can see that it appears to be widely available in the latest version. The update should now be released on the Play Store, but you can download it sooner on our sister site APK Mirror.
