Nokia 1.4 debuts with giant screen and low price

HMD Global this week announced Nokia 1.4, which the company is touting as “family-friendly”. That’s because not only is the device’s screen beautiful and large, but the price is low – the perfect match for a good starter phone.

The Nokia 1.4 has a 6.51-inch HD + screen with a teardrop design, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 215 processor and a large 4,000 mAh battery that supports 5W charging. The device also includes a dual camera configuration and up to 3 GB of RAM (depending on the region).

The device was designed to serve the entry-level market, but that doesn’t mean it’s not worth checking out. Nokia 1.4 offers durable design and state-of-the-art photographic features, including Portrait Mode and Night Mode.

“As a father of two, I can identify with the challenges that many families face from having to adapt to so many activities at home,” said Juho Sarvikas, product director and vice president of North America, HMD Global. “With these needs growing steadily, we wanted to create a reliable and enjoyable experience that would really benefit all members of the family, without increasing domestic financial pressures.”

HMD Global is launching Nokia 1.4 with Android 10 Go, but said it is ready for Android 11 Go “and beyond” and will receive at least three years of security updates. The device also has built-in parental controls, which will allow users to manage content downloaded from the Google Play Store.

“Whether managing work emails, paying bills or keeping kids busy with extracurricular activities online, our designers addressed the fact that millions of families around the world are spending more time at home,” said Sarvikas.

The Nokia 1.4 is available today in three different colors (Fjord, Charcoal and Dusk) and will be sold for 99 €. HMD Global did not specify in which countries the device is available, but said that you can find it “globally”.
