‘Borderlands’ developer Gearbox is merging with publishing giant Embracer

This is not the only major problem. Embracer also acquired Aspyr Media, best known for porting Mac games (including Borderlands) and consoles, as well as their publishing work. The $ 100 million deal puts Aspyr under Saber Interactive and is expected to help Aspyr obtain more licenses while leveraging Saber ‘existing portfolio of licensed game properties. In other words, Embracer sees Aspyr as a portal – particularly when it is expanding its horizons with an unidentified $ 70 million “game development project”.

The combined deals could make Embracer another force in the gaming world. While he certainly has some well-known titles on his Subway Series, Dead in daylight and even Goat Simulator, is not a powerhouse at the level of Activision, EA or Ubisoft. Gearbox and Aspyr help Embracer move closer to that goal, especially if they make future acquisitions possible.
