Pinnacle Station, a training facility added to the first Mass effect, will not appear in Mass Effect: Legendary Edition alongside over 40 other pieces of downloadable content. Game Informer reports that Pinnacle Station, created by Demiurge Studios for the first game, cannot be recovered due to data corruption.
Legendary Edition repackages the original trilogy and all previously released content with new features and a major graphic overhaul. Speaking for Game Informer, game director Mac Walters said trying to save the DLC was an “emotional roller coaster” that included contacting Demiurge and trying to get backups. The developer’s source code has been corrupted. The source code of the original code was also notoriously lost, which prevented PlayStation 3 players from trying it out when the game hit the platform.
Recreating the DLC would take six months with “the majority” of Legendary Editionof the team, said Walters. “I wish we could do that. Honestly, just because it means everything the team has already created, it has come together again – all content for one player. And so, leaving everything on the floor of the editing room, it was heartbreaking. ”
Mass Effect: Legendary Edition will be released on May 14 on PC, PS4 and Xbox One.
