The State of Rhode Island’s new online application tool for vaccines is now available.
The website can be found here and will allow Rhode Islanders to apply for vaccinations. Some have already signed up.
The website was developed by ClinicWizard Inc. – a division of Multi-State Partnership for Prevention, which is a subsidiary of Maryland Partnership for Prevention.

The Rhode Island Department of Health (RIDOH) identified Prepmod – the sister technology of ClinicWizard that was identified in the department’s highly questionable plan submitted to CDC in October. An investigation by GoLocal revealed numerous errors at the state level.
RIDOH declined to provide an updated copy of the updated CDC plan or the agency’s vaccination plan.
The state plan presented in October stated: “Vaccine reports during the COVID-19 response require several new and existing systems for exchanging data. During H1N1, registered providers did not use the online vaccine notification system as RIDOH intended, as it was a manual process and providers often did not send data as requested. Given that the adult immunization record in Rhode Island is new, some providers are being hired for the first time and those who lack the ability to upload HL7 files for registration will use PrepMod, which is also new. “
According to the state plan, “Training for vaccination sites that will use the PrepMod system is provided by the PrepMod supplier and coordinated by the Training Coordinator in the RIDOH Immunization Program. The Training Coordinator is the liaison for all vaccination sites and assists in scheduling training and meeting any additional training needs. The training will be provided online for all administrative employees who will use the system. Mass vaccinators, MV Workgroup personnel and other state officials and hospitals that will use PrepMod will be trained next month.
And, RIDOH wrote, “The supplier who developed and supports PrepMod is aware of the data requirements for the CDC COVID-19 vaccine and is working to adapt the system to ensure that it meets all data collection and reporting requirements. needed. RIDOH will upload the COVID Provider registration files to the CDC twice a week, as required in a CSV file based on data from a PrepMod extraction file. “
According to RIDOH, “Reports can be run on RICAIR [Rhode Island Child and Adult Immunization Registry] down to the provider level to monitor the doses administered. PrepMod includes a real-time inventory tracking feature.
“In case the PrepMod is totally inaccessible, Rhode Island can revert to the paper recording, including the processes mentioned in the Rhode Island Medical Emergency Distribution System Plan (maintained by RIDOH).”
