Apex Legends has a ton of significant changes in Season 8: Mayhem, as Respawn has updated several characters with new buffs and nerfs for Wraith, Octane, Mirage and more.
Respawn has been climbing into the new Apex chapter for a long time, and has finally culminated in the new character Fuse along with a full Battle Pass for people to sift through as we move into the next season.
In addition to the changes implemented in several of the game’s weapons, the developers also made adjustments to a good number of characters – eight to be exact – all the details can be found below.
Apex Legends season 8 character nerfs and buffs
Wraith
Wraith has had the most success throughout Apex’s life, but she sees some changes to her hitbox in season 8. Respawn is taking inspiration from Pathfinder’s season 7 tweaks to help balance the character even more.
Wraith’s hitbox is now a little bigger than before, but it will still “remain true to her model”. It will keep the Low Profile passive, with most changes reaching the dimensions of the body and leg hitbox.
Wraith’s hitbox is getting a little bigger in season 8 around the middle section and legs.
“The fact is that her winning rate remains at the top, as it has been since day one,” wrote Respawn. “With Season 7’s hitbox settings on Pathfinder, we were able to control its power without nerfying its kit. We hope to do the same with Wraith. “
Rampart
From best to worst, Rampart is not doing very well on Apex, according to the developers. The developers will increase Sheila’s range of motion from 120 ° to 180 ° and increase the health of her Amped Cover from 1 health point to 45.
Respawn said that they will be “keeping a careful eye on this one,” as it refers to the reactive power of their wall, but something needed to be done to give Rampart more prominence in the game.
Horizon
Horizon has been a strong character in Apex Legends, alongside Wraith.
Although Wraith has historically been the most chosen / winning Legend in the game, Horizon debuted at the very top alongside her in Season 7.
Respawn sees this as a healthy competition, but is giving a slight nerf to his Gravity Survey which will increase the effective cooldown from 21s to 25s (the 15s cooldown timer will start now when the Gravity Survey disappears).
The developers don’t want to completely destroy Horizon’s power, so they will monitor how these changes affect their performance in the game.
Octane
The job just got a lot easier for Octane players who have been trying to master the ‘super jump’ with the launch pad since Respawn redid the final mechanics to include a consistent way to perform the trick.
- Hitting the jumping block from a standing position will launch players along a high arc (the speed and trajectory of the old super jump).
- From a crouched position, players will launch over a low arc, meaning that they will fly lower, but farther in the horizontal direction.
This gives Apex players a more direct way to perform the different jumps, opening up tactical possibilities for everyone, not just for those who have practiced a lot with this character.
Caustic
As soon as the Caustic team goes down, your Nox Gas will be gone.
A change in quality of life hit Caustics’ Nox gas in season 8, now that Respawn will clean up any residual smoke on the battlefield as soon as it dies: “All gas now dissipates as soon as the Caustics team is eliminated. “
This means that there will be a new target on the back of Caustic, as it gives teams an active incentive to eliminate it first in a fight.
Cryptographic
It hasn’t changed much with Crypto this time around, but players can no longer place bow stars in their Surveillance Drone, denying the bomb delivery service that people have abused slightly since it was discovered.
Wolf
Loba’s “Eye for Quality” passive and, by extension, her Black Market Boutique, can now take a look at closed Care Packages. The devs expanded the High Society Thief’s ability to steal the loot from the Arena with the move, making their transportation a little more valuable to the team members.
Mirage
Mirage baits will make step sounds in season 8.
Mirage lures will officially have footprints in Apex Legends. This change was previously announced in the Fight Night patch notes, although the studio admitted that the notification was sent earlier and should have been saved for season 8.
