Ryan Fitzpatrick was not available for the last week of the regular season after he tested positive for COVID-19 and that meant the Dolphins couldn’t call him in relief from Tua Tagovailoa in Week 17’s defeat to the Bills that prevented Miami from making the playoffs.
With the Dolphins out of action, Fitzpatrick has taken a step closer to the free agency in what is gearing up to be one of the wildest quarterback markets in recent history. The 38 year old man said about The Pat McAfee Show On Tuesday he wants to be right in the middle of that market because he plans to continue playing.
“This off-season, we have already seen [Jared] Goff and [Matthew] Stafford obviously, ”said Fitzpatrick. “Who knows what will happen to Deshaun [Watson]. There are rumors all over the quarterback market, but there are many teams looking for a new quarterback or quarterbacks. For me personally, I have to take each off-season and reevaluate. These past two years have really illuminated fire under me and I still want to play and I like to play outside ”.
Fitzpatrick was replaced in favor of Tagovailoa after week 6 and said during the season that it hurt, despite knowing that Tagovailoa came to Miami to become the starter. The Dolphins may be one of those teams playing for Watson and a return to Miami may not be on the cards under any circumstances, but Fitzpatrick wants to continue playing and it looks like he will find a place somewhere before the music stops.
