The Centers for Disease Control may recommend using two masks – one over the other – to avoid the most contagious variants of the coronavirus, according to Anthony Fauci.
The CDC and Fauci discussed the matter on Monday, but the agency does not yet have the data to make any formal recommendations, he said on Tuesday during a Washington Post event. Still, it “makes sense” to increase protection, said Fauci.
The infectious disease specialist has previously endorsed double masking due to new strains of the virus.
