Rose McGowan said she was “proud” of Evan Rachel Wood and the other women who performed on Monday, February 1, with their allegations of abuse against Marilyn Manson.
In a message posted on Twitter on Monday, McGowan wrote: “The Hollywood Cult, fame and the music industry must be prevented from protecting predators and selling their disease to the world. Your disease has a longer range than a nuclear bomb. When those at the top help monsters profitably, they harm us all. “
In an accompanying video, McGowan said: “I am deeply sad and disgusted today, but mostly proud. I am proud of Evan Rachel Wood and the others who performed against Marilyn Manson, my ex. McGowan said her experience with Manson was different from those described by the musician’s accusers, but she added, “It has no bearing on whether he was like that with other people before or after.”

McGowan continued: “It takes time to move forward. And again, I am proud. Pride of women and anyone who opposes an aggressor. They steal time. They are time eaters. They steal lives. They steal hopes, dreams, freedom, sexuality, love. “
In a statement released on Monday, Wood accused Manson – whose real name is Brian Warner – of treating her when she was a teenager and “abusing her terribly[ing] for years. ”After posting, several other women filed similar charges of sexual, physical and emotional abuse.
Manson denied the accusations, calling them “horrible distortions of reality” in an Instagram post. He added: “My intimate relationships have always been entirely consensual with like-minded partners. Regardless of how – and why – others are now choosing to misrepresent the past, that is the truth. “
