TV presenter / comedian Adam Conover revealed that a Legend of Zelda Netflix live action series was in production before being canceled due to leaks.
You can see the full interview with Conover in the video just below The Serf Times. At around 39 minutes, Conover reveals that, around 2014, a Legend of Zelda TV series was in production on Netflix, while Conover was working on a claymation adaptation of Star Fox for College Humor, which was supported by Shigeru Miyamoto.
However, the comedian reveals that Netflix’s Legend of Zelda project was canceled due to leaks, which bothered Nintendo. Conover suspects that someone inside Netflix leaked the Legend of Zelda adaptation, which caused Nintendo to cancel a list of projects, including the Zelda adaptation and Star Fox’s clay dumplings.
The Legend of Zelda has been rumored on Netflix for a long time, and rumors about the project have been circulating since 2014, when Conover claims the show was in production. It is a pity that the project has been closed, but with the increase in animated adaptations on Netflix, such as Castlevania and Resident Evil, who can say that Nintendo could not reconsider the return to the abandoned project?
2021 is certainly preparing to be a great year for The Legend of Zelda. Just yesterday, a retailer may have leaked The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild with a release date in the second quarter of 2021, although Nintendo warned in September 2020 that the mysterious sequence would remain a mystery for “a little while longer”. After all, this year marks the 35th anniversary of the Nintendo franchise, so fans certainly expect big celebrations for the series.
