Two FBI agents killed and others injured in a shooting in Sunrise, Florida

The shooting took place around 6 am, when a team of police officers executed a search and seizure warrant ordered by a federal court as part of a violent crime case against children, according to a statement from Miami FBI special agent Michael D Leverock and spokesman Jim Marshall.

Two of the injured FBI agents were taken to the hospital and are in stable condition, and the status of the third injured agent was unclear. The subject of the warrant is dead, the statement said.

The FBI said its Inspection Division is investigating the shooting.

“The review process is complete and objective and is conducted as quickly as possible in the circumstances,” said the FBI statement.

The shooting took place at the Water Terrace apartment complex in Sunrise at 6:04 am, according to Sunrise Police spokeswoman Otishia Browning-Smith. The person the officers were looking for had barricaded herself, she said.

Police said there was a strong police presence in the 4200 Nob Hill Road area. and that the street was closed in both directions. The scene was safe from 9:04 am, according to the police, who also asked people to stay in their homes due to the ongoing investigation.
The apartment complex where the shooting occurred is a luxury gated community with a gym, swimming pool, spa and tennis courts, says its website. Sunrise, a city of around 84,000 in the 2010 census, is located about 10 miles northwest of Fort Lauderdale, in South Florida.
