Destiny 2 ‘Chosen Season’ artwork and details leak early

Well, thanks to a poorly timed Game Informer tweet that accidentally broke an embargo, we have our first information about the next Season of the Chosen of Destiny 2, scheduled to be revealed tomorrow with a trailer and, presumably, a GI article to follow.

As it was picked up by dataminers a while ago, the name of the season is in fact Season of the Chosen, and the first art of the season along with some information in the quickly deleted Game Informer tweet tells us this.

– Actually, it’s not just a Cabal, but Caiatl, Calus’s daughter in the background (female Cabal has fangs), and I suppose we can assume that she could be our new enemy this season, even if we’re allies with at least some faction of Kabbalah for history. Caiatl was considered through tradition this season and some of the first teasers that Bungie released on the most recent TWAB.

– We can clearly see the seasonal emblem on his helmet, which solves the mystery of what it was, and appears to be the symbol of Caiatl’s legion.

– The landscape implies that a significant part of this season will take place on Nessus, which was not visited during the Beyond Light or Season of the Hunt content. I don’t know what to do with that ship on the left, except that it’s definitely not the Nessus barge that’s there now. No sign of Leviathan anywhere, although there are indications that it may return.

– Zavala has a central role this season with him being presented here, although this is not exactly a surprise, as we saw a cutscene of him consulting Cabal. There are rumors that Zavala may have been corrupted by Savathun without knowing it, and we know that we are still marching towards its expansion this fall.

– The Game Informer tweet says that not only are old strikes returning, but New strikes too, which is the first time we’ve heard of this. Otherwise, the GI tweet doesn’t say much more, except to miss the season number (it’s 13, not 12) and tell us that we’re fighting Cabal.

No one seems to have been able to access a live version of the actual article, so those are all the details we know. It’s not exactly a ton, mainly just confirming a name that was already rumored and featuring a character that was speculated to arrive. I think the biggest news is about new attacks, but we still don’t know the real plot, the potential return of Leviathan, the seasonal activity, none of that. Therefore, there is much more to come that we will have to investigate as soon as all of this information is fully released tomorrow, either by Bungie or by (sigh) Game Informer.

I’m certainly excited to see Caiatl arrive at the game after being teased for a while. Tomorrow should be fun, or maybe we’ll see more leaks tonight at this rate. Who knows.
