The advent of a new platform for the game also means that multiplatform gameplay and cross-progression have been introduced, meaning that MLB The Show 21 players can transport the progression between PlayStation and Xbox platforms, as well as play multiplayer with everyone players in both console families.Other new features will be revealed as part of a series of six Feature Premiere streams, starting in March. Another revelation will be held on February 3, which will present the Collector’s Edition of the game.
While you’ll have to wait until then to find out what’s inside the most premium edition, PlayStation Blog suggests that only the Collector’s Edition will have a free, next-generation update. “There will be no way to update the standard edition of the current generation to the next,” says the article by Ramone Russell, game designer at developer San Diego Studio. “If you are interested in having access to the game on the current and next generation platforms, wait for more information about the collector’s edition.”
Although the regular edition is the only one to be exhibited so far, the art shows this year’s cover athlete: Fernando “El Nino” Tatis Jr. This will not come as a surprise to some fans, as the cover – also like the Xbox version – leaked last week.
