The Senate’s plan to vote on confirmation of the candidate for Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas on Monday was postponed after parts of Washington, DC, were covered by more than two inches of snow on Sunday.
The vote will now move to Tuesday, Senate officials announced in Twitter on Sunday night.
The Senate was scheduled to enter an executive session on Monday to consider the nomination before the vote at 5:30 pm. The Senate’s Internal Security Committee advanced the Mayorkas’ nomination by 7-4 in late January.
