Iowa reports over 250 deaths from COVID-19, 757 new cases reported

EDITOR’S NOTE: The daily numbers we report do not match the numbers the state is reporting for each day. Every day at 10am, we take the previous day’s numbers from 10am and subtract them with the current state numbers at 10am. Instead of reporting a day ago, we want to provide the most up-to-date information. For Black Hawk and Linn counties, we are reporting the COVID-19 site numbers for their counties. For Johnson and Dubuque counties, we are providing numbers for the state website.

IOWA

(KWWL) – There were 757 new cases confirmed from 10am on Saturday to 10am on Sunday, according to the state panel, which brings the total number of cases in the state to 319,203.

The state website reports that of the 319,203 people who tested positive, 282,477 recovered. There are 953 more recoveries than the state reported on Saturday.

The death toll in the state is 4,901, another 250 reported yesterday.

Subtracting the number of recoveries (282,477) and the number of deaths (4,901) from the total number of cases (319,203), we currently have 31,825 positive cases active in the state.

As of 10 am Sunday morning, there were 18 patients hospitalized in Iowa in the past 24 hours and the total number of hospitalizations is 358, down from 376 yesterday. Of these hospitalizations, 94 are in the ICU (out of 84) and 29 in ventilation (same as yesterday).

In Iowa, there were 2,869 new tests performed in the last 24 hours and a total of 1,472,768 people were tested for COVID-19. The positivity rate in the last 24 hours (757 positive tests divided by 2,869 tests provided) is 26.3 percent.

According to the state’s latest vaccine report that was released on Saturday, 236,608 total doses were administered to Iowa residents over 58,183 completed the series. On Saturday, 8,725 residents of Black Hawk County, 18,507 residents of Linn County, 21,066 residents of Johnson County and 8,542 residents of Dubuque County received the vaccine. BLACK HAWK COUNTY

From 10am on Sunday, the Black Hawk COVID-19 panel has been presenting 64 new cases since 10 am on Friday, leaving a total of 15,259 cases (14,339 positive cases of CRP and antigen and 920 positive serology cases). There are 12 more recoveries for a total of 12,841. There were zero additional deaths, leaving a total of 248 deaths. The county’s average 14-day positivity rate is 10 percent.

LINN COUNTY

From 10am on Sunday, the COVID-19 panel from Linn County is presenting 65 new cases since 10am on Saturday, leaving a total of 18,498 cases. There were 36 additional recoveries, leaving a total of 15,991 recoveries. There were zero additional deaths, leaving a total of 296 deaths. Currently, there are 24 patients admitted to the municipality. The average 14-day positivity rate for the county is 8%.

JOHNSON COUNTY

According status panel At 10 am on Sunday, there are 24 new positive cases reported in Johnson County since 10 am on Saturday. This brings the total to 12,460 reported cases. There were a total of 11,176 recoveries, 49 of which were reported more than yesterday. There were five additional deaths, leaving a total of 62 deaths. The average 14-day positivity rate for the county is 8%.

DUBBLE COUNTY

According status panel at 10 am on Sunday, there were 25 additional positive cases reported in Dubuque County since 10 am on Saturday. This brings the total to 11,826 reported cases. There were 20 additional recoveries reported, leaving a total of 10,588. There were ten additional deaths reported, leaving a total of 176. The average 14-day positive rate for the county is 10 percent.
