Elon Musk says bitcoin is ‘about to get wide acceptance’

Tesla CEO Elon Musk said that bitcoin is a “good thing” and that it should attract public attention.

“I think bitcoin is really about to get widespread acceptance by mainstream finance people,” said Musk on Sunday night, during a chat session at the Clubhouse. “I don’t have a strong opinion about other cryptocurrencies.”

Musk went on to say that many of his friends have convinced him to buy bitcoin in the past, but he is “late for the party”.

The billionaire CEO added that he should have bought some bitcoin in 2013, when one of his friends introduced the cryptocurrency at the time.

Musk also spoke briefly about Dogecoin, the meme currency he tweeted about in the past, saying he “occasionally” makes “Dogecoin jokes”.

“Actually, they are meant to be just jokes, but you know Dogecoin was made as a joke to mock cryptocurrencies, obviously, but fate loves irony and often as a friend of mine says the most ironic result or I would say the most fun result and the most ironic result would be that Dogecoin will become the currency of the earth in the future. “

Musk’s comments come three days after he added bitcoin to his Twitter bio and posted: “In retrospect, it was inevitable”, possibly meaning that the mention of bitcoin would certainly happen.

Bitcoin rose about 15% on Friday after the mention of Musk and is currently trading with an increase of about 2% to $ 33,800.
