Players love to show off their coolest characters and weapon skins in Apex Legends, and a clever concept shared on Reddit would take the game’s customization options one step further, incorporating skins for each Legend’s exclusive gear.
A big part of any game is the players’ ability to customize the appearance of their characters, and Apex Legends is no different. Since launch, Respawn has provided hundreds of weapon skins and Legends for players to use when expressing their sense of style in the game.
Respawn’s Battle Royale offers players an almost constant supply of new items to purchase for their favorite Legends. Between in-game event exclusives, frequent store rotations and new battle pass items added each season, there are many options for players to choose from.
While there are already many skins in the game, some fans want Respawn to take their customization offering to the next level. In a shared post on Reddit, ‘u / DimSpartanJ13’ suggests that Respawn can add a new category of skins for each Legend character’s specific outfit.
Equipment customization in Apex Legends may include items like the Bangalore smoke launcher.
In his post, u / DimSpartanJ13 provided several examples of what they think Respawn could do to add some additional customization options for players. “Lifeline drone, Crypto drone, Revenant totem, Bangs smoke launcher, [and] Caustic gas trap ”, all are known for their potential to have unique skins.
OU / DimSpartanJ13 also included several images representing some of the equipment mentioned in the post. This should give players an idea of what they see now, and allow them to imagine what some different skins would look like if applied to these pieces of equipment.
The proposed system would be similar to what already exists in other titles, namely Overwatch. Blizzard Entertainment has a long history of providing its players with eye-popping character skins, and this generally applies to each Hero’s unique equipment (D.Va’s Tokki engine, for example).

While most responses to the post expressed support for the idea, there were some questions about how a system like this could affect gameplay. Some players fear that problems may arise as different skins for the Lifeline DOC drone, causing their teammates to lose the game if they are not paying enough attention.
Other responses offered solutions to these problems. “There is no reason why Apex does not have these skills [equipment] skins. Overwatch does that too ”, pointed out a user. Having the skin of the equipment visible only to the player using it (and his teammates) is an easy solution to avoid possible balance problems.
Respawn had not commented on the post so far. Although this seems like an illusion at the moment, there have been leaks suggesting that Respawn is already looking for additional weapon skin rarities, so players may see a system like this implemented sometime in the future.
