The Rams ended up with an NFC North quarterback. They first tried to get another one.

Sam Farmer of the LA Times reports that the Rams ran a race in the Packers quarterback, Aaron Rodgers. By Farmer, the Packers were “adamant” about not dealing with Rodgers. Farmer did not specify the Rams’ offer for Rodgers – if it got to that point.

The Packers have made it publicly clear that they don’t want to trade Rodgers. Rodgers, after suggesting for free last week that his future with the Packers is uncertain, tried to put most of the toothpaste back in the tube a few days later.

While it is clear that the Packers want Rodgers for 2021 and that Rodgers wants to stay, Rodgers also wants clarity regarding his status, in the form of a contractual commitment that clearly unites player and team for two or three years, if not more.

Whether Rodgers achieves that compromise and the resulting clarity is, as Rodgers would call it, a beautiful mystery.
