It looks like the next edition of This is what I call music it will be a must-have for TV fans.
In a riff from the popular music franchise NOW, SNL delivered its own titled version, This is what I call thematic songs sung by stars, allowing a myriad of series leads (or facsimiles of them) to present original lyrics from some of the most classic tracks on TV (see the full clip below).
The short started with Chloe Fineman giving us her best Nicole Kidman while singing The Undoopening song, “Dream a Little Dream of Me”. (“You noticed my coat? She asks.) From there, new interpretations of the songs of Bridgerton (through Lady Whistledown, also known as Julie Andrews), The Mandalorian, The Queen’s Game, Succession and more, like Cecily Strong, Kate McKinnon, Beck Bennett, Melissa Villaseñor, Pete Davidson, Kyle Mooney, Alex Moffat and everyone took action to exercise their vocal talents.
But at the last moment of the clip, first-time presenter John Krasinski sang the “lost lyrics” to The officetheme song, which started with many “Scrantons”. He then made Dunder Mifflin proud, singing along with the opening credits, which basically turned into a narration from the accompanying video (“This is a calculator!”).
That wasn’t the only fun snack of the night for Office fans. In Krasinski’s opening monologue, he was consistently interrupted by “Office fans ”Kenan Thompson, Moffat, Davidson and Ego Nwodim, who refused to ask real questions, but used this as a chance to repeatedly call the actor“ Jim ”. The part culminated in a kiss between “Jim and Pam”, with SNLPete Davidson himself replacing Jenna Fischer. (Watch the full monologue here.)
