Capitals make Alex Ovechkin the offensive ninja of the night

Alex Ovechkin was forced to quarantine and did not play hockey for 10 days. When he returned, he was the same as always: dominant.

Ovi scored the OTGWG of Capitals on Saturday, giving the undefeated Capitals their 15th point out of a possible 18. Ovechkin’s goal was also historic. It was his 708th career goal, drawing him with Mike Gartner, for the seventh place of all time on the NHL goal list.

After the game, the capitals gave their captain props in the only way they know how.

Ovechkin was elected the offensive player of the night, receiving the coveted Cobra Kai bandana. Ovechkin’s teammates clapped loudly as he encouraged his fans to speak up.

Zdeno Chara also gave Nick Jensen a headband as the defensive player of the night, but there is no video because he is Nick Jensen.

Ovechkin scored and assisted on the lap, giving him seven points (2g, 5a) in the first five games of the season.
