Hoping to buy one PS5? Get in line. Sony’s next-generation console was launched in the United States about three months ago – on November 12 of last year – but the stock was no match for demand and sold out instantly, partly because ordinary users had to compete with bots and resellers. Some subsequent falls in inventory have since occurred in the same way. At the moment, the only consoles you can buy are marked at obscene levels on sites like eBay and StockX, usually several times the retail value of $ 400 or $ 500 (depending on the model you want). The console has been virtually impossible to find, with at least one person waiting in line for 36 hours to catch one on a California GameStop.

Good news: earlier this month in CES Sony has confirmed that several games, such as Kena: Bridge of Spirits, Little Devil Inside and Solar Ash, are on their way to their scheduled release dates for the first half of the year. So, if you already have a PlayStation 5 in hand, good times are ahead. But for the rest of us, the stock remains virtually non-existent.
Twitter continues to be a source of verification for replenishment news, although we are seeing fewer large stock drops. Instead, retailers appear to be shifting to smaller, more frequent sales policies, which sell quickly and without much fanfare online. In any case, it will take some time for a PS5 to be easy to find. But even so, I’ll keep an eye out for refueling and update this article when it looks like you’ll be able to win a PS5.
The PS5 is available in two versions: There is a $ 500 model with Blu-ray and an identical $ 400 digital version, with no disk input. At this point, people are happy to get their hands on any of them, but if you don’t have an optical disc library – for Blu-ray movies, used games or old PS4 games – CNET recommends go with the $ 400 version.

As your friends, we have to tell you: Do not do it. But if you don’t want to hear us, take a look at StockX, an eBay alternative that made its name in the secondary market for sneakers and designer clothing. The last time we checked, PS5 prices were hovering around $ 700.
