A growing number of US companies are offering employees incentives to be vaccinated against COVID-19, including bonuses up to $ 200.
Some networks are offering to cover normal pay for a certain period of time while an employee is being vaccinated, while others are offering cash rewards.
The changes come as vaccination programs that currently aim to protect essential workers and highly vulnerable people begin to shift their focus to millions of low-risk Americans.
Being vaccinated, however, can mean losing your hourly wage or even incurring extra travel and childcare expenses.
The Equal Employment Opportunities Commission said in December that in most cases, employers can require their employees to receive the vaccine as soon as it is widely available. Many companies are opting for a encouraged approach, encouraging workers to be vaccinated when possible.

In Chicago, the BRIA Health Services nursing home network said this month that it was offering a $ 150 bonus to employees who were vaccinated.
“To ensure that we are doing everything we can to encourage people to get the vaccine, BRIA is putting our money where our mouth is,” company spokeswoman Natalie Bauer Luce previously told Fox Business.

Dollar General
Dollar General will offer its employees four hours of pay to receive the vaccine, the Tennessee-based retailer announced earlier this month.
The company said it does not want employees to “have to choose between getting a vaccine or coming to work”.

Trader Joe’s
Trader Joe’s is offering its employees two hours of pay per dose when receiving the vaccine.
The California-based supermarket chain said it would also change employees’ schedules to ensure they could get vaccinated.

Instacart
Instacart will pay a $ 25 stipend to qualified employees, including shift leaders, in-store buyers and full-service transporters, who receive the vaccine starting on Monday.
The California-based food shopping service said it did not want its workers to have to “choose between earning an income as a provider of essential services or being vaccinated.”

Aldi
Aldi will give its American employees up to four hours of pay to receive the vaccine.
The German discount supermarket chain, based in the United States in Illinois, said it also plans to use local vaccination clinics in its warehouses and offices to make vaccination more convenient for employees.

Lidl
Lidl will pay $ 200 to its employees in the United States who are vaccinated.
The German-based discount grocery, with operations in the US based in Virginia, said it would also accommodate vaccine appointments on employee schedules. The company also partnered with CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield in March to provide its employees with medical coverage related to COVID-19.
