A Japanese woman was arrested after a cleaning lady found her mother’s body in the freezer of her Tokyo apartment.
The body had been folded into the freezer, police said.
Yumi Yoshino, now 48, said she hid the body 10 years ago after returning home to find her 60-year-old mother dead because she “did not want to move” from her home, local media reported.
There were no visible wounds on the frozen body, police said.
Authorities were unable to determine the time and cause of the woman’s death.
The body was discovered after Yoshino was evicted from the apartment for nonpayment of rent. Yoshino was arrested at a hotel in the city of Chiba, near Tokyo, on Friday.
