WASHINGTON – President Joe Biden’s early days in office marked the beginning of dozens of executive actions focusing on this government’s top priorities, including the COVID-19 pandemic.

Many of his orders were aimed at undoing some of the policies of former President Donald Trump in areas such as health, immigration, the environment and issues of equality and diversity.

Here is a list of the orders, memoranda and proclamations that Biden has made since the beginning of his presidency. This list, which was last updated on January 29, will be updated as additional actions are signed:

January 28

  • Executive order to strengthen the Affordable Care Act and Medicaid, advising agencies to review any policies that may hinder access to ACA and recommending opening a three-month application period for uninsured Americans.
  • Memorandum reversing the Trump administration’s “Mexico City Policy” that blocked funding for groups that included abortion services or information in their family planning programs and suggesting reconsideration of policies that “impose undue restrictions on the use of federal funds or the access of women to complete medical information. “

January 27

  • Executive order raising climate change as a national security concern and committing to the goal of conservation goals.
  • Executive order establishing the President’s Council of Science and Technology Advisors.

January 26

  • Executive order determining the progressive elimination of private prisons, not renewing the contracts of the Department of Justice. The order does not apply to other federal agencies, such as US Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
  • Memorandum condemning racism and xenophobia against Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders in response to the coronavirus pandemic and instructing the Department of Health and Human Services to consider best practices for mitigating language in guidelines that could promote racism.
  • Memorandum that directs agencies to mitigate racial prejudice in federal housing policies.
  • Memorandum renewing the government’s commitment to respect tribal sovereignty.

January 25th

  • Executive order reversing the Trump administration’s policy of banning trans people from serving in the armed forces.
  • Executive order pledging to invest in American companies and closing loopholes “that allow offshore companies to produce and jobs while still qualifying for national preferences.”
  • Proclamation to suspend the entry of non-citizens into the USA who were present in certain regions in the 14 days prior to the attempted entry, including: Schengen Area, United Kingdom (excluding overseas territories outside Europe), Republic of Ireland, the Federative Republic of Brazil and Republic of South Africa.

January, 22th

  • Executive order restoring collective bargaining power for federal employees and instructing the Office of Personnel Management to provide recommendations for achieving a minimum wage of $ 15 for federal workers.
  • Executive order promoting assistance from federal agencies to individuals, families and small businesses amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

January 21th

  • Executive order to identify supplies and accelerate the production of supplies needed to respond to the coronavirus pandemic, including vaccines and personal protective equipment.
  • Ordinance supporting the reopening of schools, calling on the Department of Education to work with elementary and high schools on how to reopen and remain open.
  • Executive order requesting the Occupational Health and Safety Administration to issue guidelines on COVID-19 for workplaces and to establish a monitoring program for violations that place workers at risk.
  • Executive order to require the use of a mask in certain modes of transport and for international travelers to the US to provide proof of a negative COVID-19 test before traveling.
  • Executive order encouraging the acceleration of the production of treatments for the coronavirus and the expansion of access to therapies.
  • Executive order establishing a COVID-19 test plate to increase test supply and bring test manufacturing to the US
  • Executive order directing the government to examine and prevent inequalities in health care and services for communities of color and other marginalized groups, establishing within the Health and Human Services a COVID-19 Task Force for Equity in Health.
  • Executive order improving data collection and sharing between government agencies to strengthen public health infrastructure.
  • Memorandum instructing FEMA to cover state costs for the National Guard to assist in responding to the pandemic.

January 20

  • Executive order rescinding the 1776 Trump Commission, a panel that Trump established as a response to Project 1619 of the New York Times, a Pulitzer Prize winning collection that focused on America’s history with slavery.
  • Executive order revoking Trump’s plan to exclude non-citizens from the census.
  • The executive order that prohibits discrimination in the workplace in the federal government based on sexual orientation and gender identity and directs federal agencies to ensure protections for LGBTQ people are included in the anti-discrimination statutes.
  • Executive order creating a COVID-19 response coordinator who will report directly to the president.
  • Executive order revoking Trump’s 2017 Executive Interior Execution Order, which expanded the categories of undocumented immigrants subject to removal, restarted the Safe Communities program and supported the federal deportation program 287 (g).
  • Executive order launching a government-wide initiative directing each federal agency to review its racial equity status and deliver an action plan within 200 days to address any disparities in policies and programs.
  • Executive order extending the pause in student loan payments and national restrictions on evictions and foreclosures.
  • Executive order creating an equitable data working group to ensure that federal data reflects the country’s diverse composition and directing the Office of Management and Budget to allocate more federal resources to underserved communities.
  • Executive order canceling the license for the Keystone XL pipeline to transport oil from Canada to the Gulf of Mexico, rescinding Trump’s approval of a project long criticized by environmentalists.
  • Proclamation ending the construction of Trump’s signature wall on the U.S.-Mexico border by proclaiming the “immediate termination” of the national emergency declaration that Trump used to finance it.
  • Proclamation reversing Trump’s ban on traveling from predominantly Muslim countries.
  • Proclamation declaring National Day of Unity on January 20, 2021.
  • Memorandum advising the Office of Management and Budget to make recommendations to modernize regulatory processes.
  • Memorandum extending the deferred deportation of Liberians until the end of June 2022.
  • Memorandum to strengthen the Deferred Childhood Arrivals Action for certain undocumented immigrants who were brought to the United States as children.
