Rudy Giuliani is well aware of the facts verified by the media and journalists, but even Trump’s fellow ally Steve Bannon cut the lawyer during an interview on Friday.
Bannon, who was pardoned by President Donald Trump during his last days in office and held the January 6 rally that preceded the United States Capitol riot, invited Trump’s attorney Giuliani to his War room podcast to discuss the former president’s impeachment defense.
While Giuliani said he could not defend his client at the Senate trial because he was a witness who spoke at the rally, he defended allegations that a Republican anti-Trump group, Project Lincoln, helped protesters to break into the Capitol.
“The defense will have to show that this was planned and many of the people involved in the planning, the antifa and even some right-wing groups, were enemies of him,” said Giuliani. “And they were doing this to harm him. Including some right-wing groups that operate for Project Lincoln or have worked with Project Lincoln at various times.”
Bannon then made his first attempt to call Giuliani into the baseless claim, asking the former New York mayor to whom he was referring.
“Wait a minute. Hey, hey, hey, hey – what are you saying: ‘work for Project Lincoln?’ Right-wing groups like who? “Bannon interrupted.
Not wanting to quote his source, Giuliani said: “One of the people who organized is well known for having worked with the Lincoln Project in the past.” Bannon then interrupted him again to ask him to identify the person.
Giuliani insisted that he should be allowed to finish and went on to reaffirm the claim that this unidentified individual “had the same motivation that the antifa people did”.
Asked by Bannon a third time about who is working with the Lincoln Project, Giuliani said: “I don’t know if I can reveal his name, because we have it from anonymous sources, but he has worked in the past to [Senator Mitt] Romney. “
The former Trump adviser laughs at Giuliani’s response before saying to him, “That’s why we’re exploding all the time. You can’t throw a load outside and say, ‘Yes, I have a double-parole guy- secret that I can’t mention, but he worked for Romney and worked for Project Lincoln. ‘”

The war room
Giuliani is known for getting into trouble after making far-reaching claims with little evidence. He is currently facing a $ 1.3 billion defamation lawsuit by Dominion Voting Systems, one of the nation’s largest electronic ballot boxes, for creating a “viral misinformation campaign” of “proven false” allegations around electoral fraud. .
On Twitter, the Lincoln Project scoffed at Giuliani’s comments, referring to his “trial by combat” comment during the “Stop the theft” rally that preceded the riot. The GOP group also called him for citing his accusation that “it was the fault of the Lincoln Project” three weeks later.
Newsweek contacted the Lincoln Project for comment, but received no response prior to publication.
