Cicley Tyson reflects on his life in the final interview held the day before his death

Cicely Tyson reflected on her career, her childhood and the prophetic prediction that a stranger made about her life when she was just a baby, while conducting her last interview just the day before her death, at age 96.

Cicely died on January 28, 2021, but just a day earlier she was interviewed by Kelly Ripa and Ryan Seacrest on their Live With Kelly And Ryan talk show about her hugely successful career.

The interview ended up being the last, and the producers were moved to tears when they learned that the iconic actress was a devoted talk show fan.

Cicely was promoting her recently released memoir, Just As I Am, when she discussed the unusual prediction a woman made about her life when she was just a baby.

‘My mom was pushing me in a stroller, and a woman stopped her and started playing with me and turned to my mom and said, “Take care of this child. She has a sixth sense. She will make you very proud one day, and she will take care of you in your old age. ”’Cicely said.

Luckily, Cicely ended up becoming a hugely successful star that undoubtedly made her mother proud.

Interestingly, despite making a career in showbiz, Cicely was a very shy child who sucked her finger for 12 years.

‘As a child, I was very shy. I stuck that thumb in for twelve years. I was an observer. I would sit at the table and watch everything that was said and done, and then I would listen and learn why people said and did the things they did, ‘she said.

Still, she had a somewhat rebellious tendency.

Cicely described her mother as incredibly overprotective, who would not allow them to go anywhere without her.

But Cicely still managed to escape from home every Saturday, when her mother was away, and took a subway to a department store to watch a show of ‘little white girls’ singing.

‘There was no black child there, and I would sit at the bottom of the stairs and listen to these shows that they did every Saturday. And my mother never knew. She had no way of knowing why I would go as soon as she left and be back before she did.

Cicely also described the role that would eventually earn him an Oscar nomination.

The actress was nominated for an Oscar for Best Actress for her role as Rebecca in the 1972 film Sounder.

‘I never thought I would be nominated for an Oscar. Never. But I used to attend the event every year and one night I attended and said, “I will sit in the front row one day.” And … ended up doing it for the role of Rebecca on Sounder. ‘

Cicely auditioned for the role, but was passed over, and the role ended up being offered to another actress, who declined during the negotiations.

Upon hearing from her manager, she was finally offered the role, Cicely remembers saying, ‘I said’ Because it doesn’t belong to her. Belongs to me ‘.’

Cicely also revealed that she became a vegetarian after the murder of Martin Luther King Jr.

‘When Martin Luther King was murdered, I was so shocked that I became a vegetarian. And I’ve been doing this most of my life, ‘she said.

Cicely also brought the producers to tears, revealing that she has been a ‘devoted fan’ of Live since Regis Philbin was the host.

“It warms our hearts,” said Ryan.

‘Everyone is crying. You made our producers cry, because they are so moved to know that you are watching our show! ‘Kelly said.

Tyson passed away just a day later, and his family announced his death in a statement through his manager Larry Thompson.

‘With a heavy heart, Miss. Cicely Tyson announces his peaceful transition this afternoon. Right now, allow the family to have privacy, ”said Thompson. No cause of death was provided.
