Mark Brunell did an interview with the Lions and, apparently, everything went well.
Tom Pelissero of NFL Media reports that Lions are Expected to hire Brunell as his defender coach.
Brunell, 50, got a broadcast job after retiring from the NFL. His last season was in 2011 with the Jets.
Lions offensive coordinator Anthony Lynn was the Jets’ running back coach during Brunell’s two seasons as a reserve defender. Brunell was a Saints defender in 2009, when Lions coach Dan Campbell was a tight end.
Brunell will have to wait to see who will be Lions’ full-back in 2021. Lions are working to negotiate with Matthew Stafford after 12 seasons.
