Steven Matz apparently has no hard feelings for the New York Mets, who negotiated with the Toronto Blue Jays on Wednesday.
“I will always be grateful to Mets for the opportunity to play for the team in my city”, Matz tweeted in a farewell message on Thursday. “Thanks to the Mets fans for all the support during my stay in NY. And thanks to all my teammates and coaches – I wish you all nothing but good luck in the future! “
Matz, 29, was dispatched to Blue Jays for three secondary league pitching opportunities. Earlier this season, Matz received a $ 5.2 million contract, but became expendable with the Mets’ recent pitch additions – which included another southpaw, Joey Lucchesi dos Padres.
Matz also said he is looking forward to joining the Blue Jays and believes they can be an AL East candidate.

The Mets, looking to replenish their farming system, have acquired three possibilities in the business – right-handed pitchers Sean Reid-Foley, Yennsy Diaz and Josh Winckowski. Diaz was the group’s highest rated potential customer, ranked 26th in the Toronto farm system, according to the MLB Pipeline.
