“Bridgerton” actress Kathryn Drysdale spent part of her time travel last year.
On the set of Netflix’s hit show, she squeezed into a corset to play high society dressmaker Genevieve Delacroix – and alternated that with the transformation into a much more contemporary figure, Meghan Markle, on the British sitcom “The Windsors”
Drysdale, 39, is wisely not taking sides in the Megxit drama, declaring herself Team Meghan and Team Royal Family.
“I really like Meghan Markle,” the 39-year-old told Page Six. “I think she is a strong and independent woman. She hasn’t changed who she is fundamentally to fit in anywhere. She clings to the things she believes in. “
The “Vanity Fair” star also doesn’t see Prince Harry and Markle’s shocking decision to switch from the UK to California as a very serious matter.
“It’s like any newlywed, isn’t it? You get married and try something for a few years and think about it, I might like to live there a little bit and I think that when you have a family, your priorities change, ”she continued. “So yes, I mean that some people think they are no longer members of the royal family, I think they still are, they just had a little time to raise their son and take a little breath.”
As for Bridgerton, Drysdale admitted that he had no idea that the new period series would become a global sensation.
“We knew it was good, but we never expected the response to be as extraordinary as it was,” she said. “It’s a testament to writing, but the feedback has been that people really liked the inclusion of it and seeing themselves represented on the screen and being something they can escape to during a really dark period in people’s lives.”
And those spicy sex scenes are central to the show, Drysdale explained, calling them “essential to Daphne’s journey … That sex was never something we looked at and thought was wicked. We knew it was an integral part of the story we were trying to tell. The scenes were very beautiful and many women watching these scenes want to be Daphne. “
