South Carolina officials warn of coronavirus vaccine fraud

Governor McMaster hopes to make coronavirus vaccines available to those 65 and older soon. The state should also receive more doses of the vaccine. While it is good news, some South Carolina officials are warning of scams related to Covid’s vaccine. DHEC, SLED, SCEMD and the Department of Consumer Protection released the statement yesterday. Residents should not give money to anyone over the phone. Personal information should also be shared only with an approved vaccine supplier at the time of an actual consultation. Anyone who has been contacted for possible fraud is asked to call local authorities, file a complaint with the Consumer Affairs Department and report the fraud to the Federal Trade Commission.
