Luke Evans will play ANOTHER Disney villain by getting a role in Pinocchio … after playing Gaston in Beauty and the Beast

He is known for his devilishly handsome appearance, as well as a cowardly role in a successful Disney film reimagination.

And now Luke Evans will return to form, after getting the role of the villainous Coachman in the remake of Pinocchio in live action from Disney.

Hobbit, 41, will enter the Disney + film that already has Tom Hanks as Geppetto, reports Deadline.

The decision to choose the cast comes after Evans played the famous role of the selfish Gaston in the 2017 remake of Beauty and the Beast, alongside Emma Watson and Dan Stevens.

This film broke the billion dollar mark at the worldwide box office, ushering in a new era for Mouse House, by remaking its vault of animated classics.

The Lion King and Aladdin were also reinvented in live action and each broke the $ 1 billion mark.

The new Pinocchio, to be directed by Forrest Gump manager Robert Zemeckis, will go straight to the Disney + streaming platform, unlike the predecessors mentioned above, who enjoyed great theatrical arches.

Like the animated classic of 1940, Pinocchio will explore the story of an enchanted puppet who wishes to become a real boy.

Evans’ coachman will be one of several antagonists who try to harm and exploit Pinocchio for personal gain.

Disney’s live action on the story is just one of several Pinocchio projects, currently in production or recently launched.

One is the darker version of the highly anticipated story, co-directed by visionary filmmaker Guillermo Del Toro and starring Cate Blanchett, Ewan McGregor and Tilda Swinton.

This film is finished and should be released later this year.

Originally an Italian fairy tale, Oscar winner Roberto Benigni also recently released a live version of the story, which was his second time.

In his most recent film about Pinocchio released last Christmas, Benigni played Gepeto, while in the version he produced in 2002, he played Pinocchio himself.

In addition to the new Disney Pinocchio, The Little Mermaid is currently filming a live action remake, featuring Melissa McCarthy, Daveed Diggs, Javier Bardem and Awkwafina, among others.
