For years, it seemed that television host Piers Morgan’s real passion was to insult celebrities, from making fun of them on his show to fighting them on Twitter.
And now it seems that even the death of a celebrity is off limits: in the wake of the recent passing of his predecessor on CNN, Larry King, Morgan issued a deaf Twitter tribute to the late television icon that left many people gaping.
Morgan paid his acid tribute just hours after King’s death on January 23.
Larry King was a hero of mine until we fought after I replaced him on CNN and he said my show was’ how to watch you … https://t.co/B9284Z3x4Y

Morgan tweeted:
“Larry King was a hero of mine until we fought after I replaced him on CNN and he said my show was ‘like watching your mother-in-law fall off a cliff in her new Bentley’. (He has married 8 times, so he is a mother-in-law expert) But he was a brilliant presenter and an excellent TV interviewer. “
King hosted Larry King Live on CNN from 1985 to 2010.
The program, which made King a household name, featured interviews with everyone from politicians and celebrities to mediums and UFO conspiracy theorists. King quickly became known as a skilled interviewer, especially for A-list celebrities, and his program became a reference for celebrities promoting a project or wanting to give an exclusive interview.
When the show changed hands for Piers Morgan in 2010, however, it gained a different and more hyped reputation for Morgan’s caustic style. King’s open and personal environment became one in which Morgan frequently insulted celebrities in the air and went so far as to ban some of them, including Madonna and Hugh Grant.
Your version of the show, Piers Morgan Live, lasted only four years and was canceled in 2014.
On Twitter, Morgan’s insulting comments about King’s death sparked widespread outrage.

Larry King’s biggest insult was that you took control of your iconic show and sucked at it. Also, stop being like this… https://t.co/UfIguDWl4p

Since the cancellation of Piers Morgan Live, Morgan became known as a provocateur, often repeating right-wing racist and transphobic talking points and fighting in the air with his colleagues on the UK morning show Good Morning Britain, where he is currently a cohost.
