Lions announced on Tuesday that they had hired Dave Fipp as coordinator of special teams.

Fipp will spend his 14th season in the NFL in Detroit, having most recently occupied the same position with the Eagles. He has worked in Philadelphia for the past eight seasons.

During Fipp’s term in Philadelphia, the team combined nine kickoffs and punt touchdowns, drawing second in the NFL during that period.

His first position in the NFL was as an assistant coach for special teams with the 2008-10 49ers, and he held the same position with the 2011-12 Dolphins.

He joins assistant coach / running back coach Duce Staley as coaches who will make the move from Eagles to Lions this off season.

Former Chargers coach Anthony Lynn will command the attack and former Saints defender coach Aaron Glenn will take over the coordination of the defense.
